My babes on Christmas day–holding them a little tighter this year (more of our holiday photos here)
It’s nearly the new year, and we give a collective sigh at leaving old things behind and take a deep breath of thanksgiving for the chance to start anew. That’s why I’ve found January the perfect time for our annual Homeschool Day in the Life series.
It’s a chance to peek into the living rooms of folks just like you–others trying to make this homeschooling gig work for us and our little people, and giving it our own unique spin at the same time.
So get ready–starting this Wednesday you’ll hear from each of our contributors with a glimpse of our schedules and routines. Hopefully you’ll come away with some ideas to implement yourself.
And now, on to our weekend links:
- Raising kids that craft (or not) :: FIMBY
- This is not the day I quit :: Rockin’ Granola
- The quickest way to rob your life of happiness :: WellGrounded Life
- Home is where the school is: An argument for homeschooling children :: Political Fiber
- After Newtown shootings, do we homeschool out of fear? :: Prime Parents Club
What part of your day could use a little freshening up?

I always find the hour before my husband comes home the worst. I need to get things back in order (we may still be doing work, we most likely aren’t), I’d like to have dinner (somewhat) ready by the time my husband comes home (late, because his job is the busiest this time of year, and he’s hungry), and have somewhat relaxed and/or cheerful kids and myself making a meal together. If ONE of those things happens, it’s basically a miracle!

I’m so glad you’re doing this. I can’t wait to take a peak into your schedules and agendas. I need the examples! I’m a first year homeschooling mom – and sometimes I feel like I’m just doing it all wrong. I’m attempting to rearrange things for the new year – so this comes just in time. Sweet.
Blessings,
Kate

Can’t wait! I’m a mommy to a 3 1/2 year old. And I feel we are need a little more structure from day to day.
Thanks for including Rockin’ Granola in this round up of links, Jamie! Looking forward to this year’s day in the life!
