Meet Jamie

Thanks for stopping by and taking time to hang out!

I’m Jamie C. Martin, and I hold the title of editor around these parts–along with the titles of mama, wife, teacher, and author.

{Note: You can find all my posts here!}

I’m a highly sensitive, introverted mom who loves the countryside, writing, traveling, and reading. Some of my favorite authors: Louisa May Alcott, Jane Austen, L.M. Montgomery, and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

I met my British husband Steve when I was sixteen years old and ventured overseas to volunteer with a humanitarian organization for the summer. When I came back home, I told my grandmother that I’d met the person I was going to marry.

Six years later, I did.

Here’s a pic of us when we first met:

Now, over twenty-five years later, our family looks like this:

Along the way, we added three children to our ranks: Jonathan (our biological son), Elijah (adopted from Liberia), and Trishna (adopted from India). With four nationalities represented in our family, we like to think of ourselves as a mini-United Nations.

I never planned to become a homeschooling mom, but stumbled into it when doing some initial research into educational options for our kids. Often the best things in life are unplanned, aren’t they? I love the advantages homeschooling gives my kids, and this lifestyle fits perfectly with who we are as a family.

(Note to readers: I still can be found, on challenging days, researching public and private school options in my area. Superwoman does not live in my house, just a mama in the trenches like you.)

In 2008 I decided to write a book, and figured I better have “one of those blogs” to go along with it. So I started writing about intentional motherhood over at Steady Mom.

I had no idea at the time that I was stumbling upon something that would add so much joy and so many opportunities to my life, including the chance to start this site, Simple Homeschool, in 2010!

Since then I’ve written more books, including Steady Days, Mindset for Moms, Give Your Child the World (reached #9 on Amazon’s Top 100 Best Sellers list), and my latest, Introverted Mom (an ECPA bestseller). You can find all of them right here!

In 2020, I began the site and online community IntrovertedMoms.com, where quiet mamas gather and come away restored.

Secrets-300Back in October 2012 I released an ebook called Secrets of a Successful Homeschool Mom. The PDF version is FREE to all email subscribers of this blog – head here for more details!

I love that I get to spend my days with my children, while also writing and working from home–what a gift! And I love meeting and interacting with you, the readers, who make this such a fun place to work. Thank you!

• Want to find me elsewhere? I also spend a little time hanging out on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter.

You can also reach me by email: jamie(at)simplehomeschool(dot)net – please know that I love, love, love hearing from you, but I’m not always able to respond to every email. Thankfully I know us homeschool parents give each other grace!

• Curious about the other ladies that write on this site? They are some of the coolest, smartest ladies I know. Here they are.

Thanks so much for visiting!
