Welcome to this week’sΒ giveaway–sponsored by Be Naturally Curious!

From Valerie at Be Naturally Curious:

“I am a mom to two energetic and inquisitive young girls and also happen to be a former college Biology professor.

One of my greatest passions in life is to help ALL kids experience the joy in learning science and exploring nature!

I believe this is best done by focusing on concepts and reinforcing learning with multiple, non-traditional teaching techniques, which is why I started Be Naturally Curious, creating science and nature mini-courses for kids grades K-5.

I love to share and discuss ideas about science and learning on our Facebook pageΒ β€”please come connect with us!

I’ve enlisted the help of several other scientists, many of whom are also moms, to make mini-courses on really important or really fascinating scientific concepts (these are the real thingβ€”nothing watered down here!).

Current mini-courses include:

  • Take Off with Airplane Science
  • A Wide World of Vertebrates
  • A Butterfly’s Evening Adventure
  • Freddie and His Ocean Friends
  • Molecules are Everywhere
  • The Adventures of Carbon
  • Discovering DNA
  • Mighty Magnets

They are designed to give parents the tools to teach higher-level scientific concepts to all styles of learners. Whether you have a kinesthetic learner or a visual one, your child can master everything from molecules and DNA to ecosystems and the carbon cycle.

As moms ourselves, we specifically designed the courses so they can be done easily at home or on a trip with minimal suppliesβ€”most materials can be cut directly from the course print out. We believe science can be done anywhere!

Each mini-course focuses on a different scientific concept, whether it be how airplanes fly or how dolphins echolocate.

Every mini-course is designed to appeal to all kinds of learners and a wide range of ages (grades K-5), and includes a beautifully illustrated story, a board or card game, a movement-based activity, a craft or modeling activity, and an experiment or outdoor exploration activity.

Try them with all the kids in your familyβ€”each person has his or her own best way to learn!

Each mini-course also includes additional resources to allow kids to follow their curiosity (the most important thing we can develop!) and concept badges kids can add to their Science Tool Kits (print out included in each mini-course.)

The prize

One Simple Homeschool reader will win a complete set of Be Naturally Curious mini-courses (worth $100), in PDF format!

PDFs can be printed in their entirety or in part for the activity materials.

My youngest boy is interested in physics, other boy is chemistry, and oldest (girl) usually leans toward living things (although she is immensely curious about all things).

  2. Jeri Thurber says:

My daughter is 4.5 and she is naturally curious about growing things and mixing different substances.

  3. Jeri Thurber says:

    I liked both on facebook.

  4. I have a 5 year old and 3 month old. My 5 year old is fascinated by the animals in our yard this summer.

  5. Kelly Shiplett says:

Hi there, my girls are 8 and 8 and are naturally curious about weather and the enviroment. They also love studing habitats.

  6. Amy in Ukraine says:

Thank you for sponsoring this giveaway! Be Naturally Curious looks like a great tool.
My 2.5 yr old son is currently curious about mechanics (how tractors, trains, cranes work) and he’s wild about bugs (which ones fly or just crawl, which ones sting or bite, etc.) and due to severe food allergies knows a lot about how foods can affect your body.
My 4.5 yr old daughter is curious this week in particular about sound (making her own rubber band instruments). She loves learning about ocean life (in part thanks to Octonauts cartoon from BBC). Her favorite summer activity is picking (and eating) raspberries and cherries from our garden. She is a self-declared cherry picking expert. πŸ™‚

  7. Hi, thanks for the giveaway ! πŸ™‚
My kids are 13, 10 and 4. My esldest is naturally curious about weather predictions, my middle one about engines and how they work, my youngest is naturally curious about…anything but stars, machines (how they work, how we can build them) and Nature (we set up a vegetable garden as a birthday gift).

  8. My granddaughters are 5 and 3. One has earned the nickname of Curious George. They take curiosity to the next level. πŸ˜‰ My daughter would love this! Thanks for the chance.

  9. My boys are 13, 11, 9 and 4. They are naturally curious about reptiles, plants, all animals really, and the ocean.

  10. I have also liked Be Naturally Curious and Simple Homeschool on facebook

  11. And I now like Facebook pages of Simple Homeschool and Be Naturally Curious πŸ™‚
    Good luck to everyone πŸ˜‰

  12. My 8 year old loves to learn about astronomy. Botany is our next topic of interest. He is naturally curious about anything that has to do with the garden.

  13. Jaime Scharf says:

My boys are 8 and 5. Science is the favored subject around our house-the kids would love this! Have liked both pages on FB πŸ™‚

  14. Hi! My kids are 8, 7, almost 6&3. Only my eldest seems really interested in science. She says she wants to be a scientist (chemist and biologist). I think her early exposure to doing things in the kitchen sparked this interest.

  15. I have two girls 8 and 9. Oldest is very curious about everything from animals to chemistry. She asks a lots of questions. The younger is perticular interested in insects.

  16. My children are ages nine, seven and five. Right now they are very interested in water currents, especially making them change in our creek outback.

  17. My kids are age 4 almost 5 and 11. They love to look at anything under a microscope and love animals

  18. Liked both on facebook

  19. Mamagrubbs says:

Our children are 12, 11, 8, 5, and 10 months each one has a different learning style but science is a favorite subject for all especially anything involving animals.

  20. My 14 yog is interested in all things science, but mostly palaeontology and genetics. My 11 yob loves mechanical and electrical science along with most applied sciences. My 3 yog is into space science at the moment.

  21. My kids are 11,9,7 and they love anything to do with the woods but were particularly interested in vernal pools this year.

  22. My kids ages are 5, 3 and 4 months. My oldest daughter has an inspiring PASSION for anything related to science (especially life science, electricity, chemistry)! I just love seeing this in her but struggle with how to foster and promote it as science is not a strength of mine. I am so glad I came across your materials and would love to try out this course as all 4 of us would benefit! Thank you for using your interests, education and passion to help kids foster theirs!

  23. My kid are 7,4,2 and 4 months. They are especially interested in nature, bugs and birds. My oldest loves experiments! We recently made a lava lamp and did a mystery science lot where we extracted DNA from fruit. He is currently showing an interest in chemistry also.

  24. My oldest is in kindergarten this year and often plays “animal scientist” with her siblings. She loves structured activities more than I do, so I’m checking out these mini-courses right now!

  25. Michelle Carnes says:

My son is 7 years old curious about space and nature.
