This week I’m teaming up with the generous folks over at Educents to bring you a special, FREE holiday gift! Educents is an educational deals site–offering significant discounts on many homeschooling products and resources.
Over the past year I have discovered quite a few good deals there for our family’s own homeschool, so I was thrilled by the idea of compiling a few of my personal favorites as a Christmas present for you lovely blog subscribers!
Just take a peek at what we’ve put together for you:
1. The WannaBe Series
I jumped at the chance to download this series earlier in the year when I stumbled upon them on Educents. My Elijah (9) currently dreams of becoming a pilot, so I knew this unit study would inspire him. We created a binder and began going through the pages together–printing out and compiling a few at a time.
Geared towards the 8-13 year-old age range, these detailed ebooks let you dive into the following careers: artist, chef, doctor, farmer, firefighter, police officer, military, missionary, pilot, veterinarian, or video game designer.
The multi-age unit study from The Old Schoolhouse encourages the learning of basic subject skills and inspires creativity while focusing on a particular, exciting occupation. Note: Written from a Christian perspective
2. 16 Great American Authors Mini-Posters
The kids and I have loved adding these mini-posters to our US history study this year. Each one features an individual, an overview of their greatest accomplishments (written in 1st person), and a famous quote.
Get this set of 16 completely free! (You can also find the complete package of 100 on Amazon if interested.)
Posters included:
• James Fenimore Cooper
• Ralph Waldo Emerson
• F. Scott Fitzgerald
• Ernest Hemingway
• Helen Keller
• Sinclair Lewis
• Thomas Paine
• Upton Sinclair
• Harriet Beecher Stowe
• William Graham Sumner
• Ida Tarbell
• Henry David Thoreau
• Frederick Jackson Turner
• Mark Twain
• Booker T. Washington
• Walt Whitman
3. Telling Time Uno
My children have seriously gotten into Uno this year, thanks to their grandmother. So I excitedly downloaded this telling time version for them to play alongside her a couple of months ago.
In order to play, players must compare the time on the clock to the digital time as well as to words.
4. Proofreading Checklist
This checklist/chart contains four pages that discuss how to proofread sentences and essays.
It includes proofreading tips for paragraphs, verbs, nouns, and more! Handy for your older elementary and up students.
5. Scientific Procedure Posters and Forms
This 25-page set covers each step in the scientific procedure, including each of the following: Ask a Question,
Hypothesis, List of Material, Procedures, Observations, Conclusions.
Designed to give 2nd-4th graders an overview of the process.
6. Anytime Pick a Prompt!
Designed for 1st-3rd grades, this writing package lets kids choose characters, setting, and plot details from a chart of fun choices, then write a few lines in story on the page below.
Includes 4 Narrative Story Prompts, 2 Descriptive Prompts, 2 Compare and Contrast Prompts and 2 Opinion Prompts.

“I don’t know what to do!” cried Scrooge, laughing and crying in the same breath; and making a perfect Laocoön of himself with his stockings.
“I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to every-body! A happy New Year to all the world! Hallo here! Whoop! Hallo!”
