Weekend Links

June 19, 2011 //  by Jamie C. Martin

Written by Jamie Martin, editor of Simple Homeschool and founder of Steady Mom

The hot days of summer stretch out ahead of us–are you making plans to change up the routine and take a much-needed break?

I am, which includes a bit of a sabbatical from my online life. So for the next month you’ll be treated to some incredible guest posts and summer thoughts from our regular contributors.

As for me, I’ll spend my days working on another book as well as making time on my list for staring and other worthwhile summer pursuits…and maybe a nap or two! I hope you also find a way to slow down and care for yourself this season.

Now on to our weekend links and announcing giveaway winners:

  • Thoughts on Teaching High School at Home :: Life as Mom
  • My Kids Don’t Watch TV (But I’m Not Judging You) :: Huffington Post
  • Myth Busting: How Reading is Taught in Waldorf Schools :: Moon Child
  • When Being Who You Are Challenges the Norm :: Zen Habits
  • 101 Ways to Embrace Summer :: Organizing Your Way

Over 660 comments were left for a chance to win a copy of Meg McElwee’s new book, Growing Up Sew Liberated.

The winners are Dani and Jen H. — Congrats and keep an eye out for an email from me for more details!

For those who didn’t win, Meg has kindly created a coupon for 20% off anything in her shop. Simply use the code “SimpleHomeschool” at checkout. For all book orders, Meg will include a free reading pillow pattern.

The coupon will expire on Friday, June 24th.

Have an incredible memory-making summer, friends!

“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.” ~ John Lubbock
