We also bring small toys like cars or my little ponies that they can play/act out stories with, and also activity/drawing/coloring books. When all else fails we have plenty of snacks as well.

My children are 3 & 5. On our last car trip I found, at the library, a wonderful Dr. Seuss audio CD that included “lost” stories. These were stories that had been published in magazines back before he published books. The stories never made it into book format so they were new to me and I loved them as much as my kids! We are always looking for new audio CD’s.

We also found it helpful to stop and run around playing tag every time we had to stop for someone to use the restroom, even if only for 5 minutes.

The shortest distance we travel is 8 hours and the longest is 22, which we’ll be doing in about a month. They’re great at keeping themselves entertained with books, games, and the occasional movie. I’ve been wanting to try audio books for this trip we have coming up, so these stories would be very helpful 🙂

My daughter is almost 20 months. Up to this point, she mostly falls asleep! We also always play music and sometimes we will give her books. She’s pretty easy and doesn’t always need something to do while in car. If she’s awake, sometimes she just sits there and talks or “sings” to the music. Would love to add audio books to our car rides though! Thanks for the giveaway!

I have a very active 5 year old. Long trips are necessary due to where we live. A trip for groceries can take an hour and a half. Some of our other trips are at least 5 hours. Keeping him calm and busy usually requires some planning. He loves to hear stories (fact or fiction). So, along the way we talk about how the landscape changes, the differences in the little towns along the way. Sometimes we create things to look for and imagine how they can be used. Having Sparkle Stories would be ideal! We have sampled Junkyard Tales and that really gets him going. He is very attentive and once the story is over he talks about the characters as if they were real. I get caught up in them too! We love you guys.

They each have travel desks that attach to the back of the driver’s and passenger’s seats, which makes it easy for them to colour and draw while we’re on road trips. We also have a bag of activities that they only get to use on trips (so they keep their novelty). It includes magnetic playsets, travel aqua doodle, felt boards, sticker books, magna doodle, lacing cards, etc. We have a basket of books between their seats, and they love listening to audio stories. On longer car trips we add my daughter reading aloud either a story she made up or one that she brought, coloring/drawing/writing, playing “I Spy” or with small toys, if they don’t end up napping part of the time. This is the first time I’ve heard of Sparkle Stories.

Our littles are 3,5,7 & 7 and are great travellers! We love stories in the car, dry erase markers on the windows, bingo, and crafts to keep everyone occupied…. Also, we love just having some good music on and playing iSpy. Would LOVE to try Sparkle stories!
Joni
My kiddos are 10, 7, and 2. While traveling we love listening to audio books, coloring, reading, sometimes watch a DVD, playing travel games (like naming animals using each letter of alphabet). We love the few free Sparkle Stories that we have tried!
I have also like both on Facebook. Thanks!! 🙂
Jenna
My kids are 6 and 3. We usually do only enough driving for the music to last (about 20 min) then we have to be at our destination! We need more variety for our travelling activities!

My kids are almost 7 and 3. We live in a town that isn’t connected to a road system, so the farthest distance we can drive takes about 45 minutes. Most of the time we listen to music or encourage the kids to look at the beautiful scenery out the windows. On the rare occasions we take a longer road trip, we bring the tablet with some movies on it and headphones. We also encourage the kids to bring books to look at. I know they would love some stories they could listen to, though!
Megan
My children are 5, 3, and 1. We travel to my parents’ house often. They live 3 hours away, so we listen to Curious George CDs, music CDs, and read books to keep occupied. These Sparkle Stories sound like they would be a lot of fun and a great way to pass the time on our trips.
Stephanie
My girls are 6 and 9. We usually play eye spy or ABC games for car trips. If its really long, DVDS. (This is an awesome giveaway!!!!!!!!)

My children are 4 and 6. When we travel, I give them a “activity bag” to put between them that has books, new puzzle and sticker books, and a few snack treats that I don’t usually let them have… 🙂 We listen to music, storybooks, and movies to supplement.
Tracy
This is an AWESOME giveaway! Fingers crossed, as this would be perfect for our upcoming trip across country. My children are ages 9, 7, and 5. We love listening to audio books, reading, coloring, playing “The Minister’s Cat,” and watching DVDs for the super long trips that require full days of driving. Thank you very much for this generous offering!
Amanda Akin
My kids are 9.7.5.4.2 and 8 mos. We read audio books, do school work, play games and read aloud.
Angelene Woodard
My children are 7, 4, and 6 months. Obviously we listen to audio books and music when traveling. Sometimes we even break out the dvd player to keep everyone in the back seat occupied. Currentl,y the older kids are learning the alphabet and numbers (1-10) in sign language and they try to “talk” to eachother this way. In theory, it’s supposed to be quiet. It’s not completely silent…but at least they are not screaming!
Max
our kids love music, audio books and magnet books. snacks when needed.
they are 3 and 6. thanks

My kids are 1 and 10. We listen to stories or the younger one sleeps or snacks and the older one gets some Nintendo DS time or reads.

My children are 6 and 4. They love audio books so we woul be excited to try these out! On road trips we bring a lot I music and audiobooks. Namely, Pippi Longstocking and The Boxcar Children. Also we bring picture books and DVDs. We have taken lots of road trips since they were babes. I recently bought a stash of used audiobooks so my husband and I stop going crazy with more Pippi ;). My boys are 14, 12, 3, and 17 months. Typically the 14 year old and the younger two take naps. The 12 year talks about whatever. My 3 year old is also always on the lookout for tractors and cows; he loves both and luckily we are in a rural area.

My kids are almost 3 and 8 months. We try to drive long distances overnight.

My children are 4, 2 and 8 months. The older two are great travelers and are perfectly happy looking through books for hours while we travel. The only problem is they get disappointed when they run out of books and have to look at the same ones again!

My younger kids are 8, 12. On car trips, we pack “surprise boxes,” which are plastic shoe boxes decorated with stickers that contain things like puzzle books, stickers, tin foil (they like to mold it into shapes), small snacks, small toys, etc. We’ve done this for years, ever since my older kids (now 17 and 19) were small.

Mine are 2.5 and 7 months. For traveling, books are the go-to with my toddler. She’s at an age now that she loves “reading” to us and we just delight in listening to her weave the story! “Writing” and coloring are also good time-passers during travel with this little one.

We sing and talk. And if it’s a longer trip, we pull out the iPad or DVD player. One benefit of not using media a whole lot is that it’s a special thing for a trip. We’d love to listen to audiobooks/stories, though…not sure why I’ve never really thought of that!

When we go on car trips (at least once or twice a month!) my older 2 love to listen to books on CD, but I’ve struggled finding ones that keep both their interest!
I’ve actually had my eye on SparkleStories for some time now, but I’ve been hesitant to spend the money. I would *love* to win this as we have another trip coming up next week.. and another one in 2 weeks… and 2 more next month…

My child is almost 2.5 years old. We have a very long car ride (10 hours) one way to visit my family. It is very difficult to be in the car that long because he is very active. We have to make frequent stops and get out to stretch our legs.
He really enjoys the Brainquest question books and frequently requests to play “questions.” He also likes to look at the GPS map and play “miles.” He will tell us which way to go, left or right, and loves to emphatically yell STOP. We also sing lots of songs.
He loves to make up stories to tell is and have us tell him stories. All of his stories start off: Once upon a time, there was a boy named (insert his name).
My son would absolutely love Sparkle Stories! And it would give Mommy and Daddy a break from having to come up with new stories the whole trip. 🙂
jordan
My children are 3, 4, and 6. When we travel I try to group the time into 30 minutes blocks and have different activities for them to do. We can play car games for 30 minutes, listen to audio books, do a sing along to our favorite cd’s or just have quite time letting them do new activity books that I usually pick up at the dollar store. I love reading simple homeschool and I would love to try out Sparkle stories.

And a light weight ball to kick and chase at rest stops. I am working on the art of telling stories and they absolutely LOVE it. Sparkle stories have been on my radar for several moons now. Greetings,
My precious daughter is now 6. When she was even younger she loved to listen to her Music Together CD’s. We would all sing along and even bring some fun instruments to play. Now she feels she is too big for those timeless songs, so we check out CD’s and Audio Books from the Library and play games. She adores the complimentary Sparkle Stories that are shared from time to time. To receive a special ‘giveaway’ would be a Spring blessing. Thanks for all that you share and give to your readers!

My children are nearly 7 and 4. They keep busy during travel times by looking out the window, listening to music, sleeping, having conversations together, looking through books, listening to stories I read to them (as a passenger, of course, until I get car sick from doing so), or listening to audiobooks borrowed from the library.

My daughter just turned one year old. When I stick her in the carseat, she gets to play with her “Heffalump” toy that I keep in the car for her. The “Heffalump” is basically an elephant with double ears (that creep me out), and he is very colorful and squeaks when your press his belly. My daugher likes riding in the car, and she is normally quite relaxed during trips.
