My girls are 3 and 6. On road trips we bring a big bin full of books, I try and choose ones I know they haven’t read in a while and usually get a new book for each on the way to and from the destination. We also bring small toys like cars or my little ponies that they can play/act out stories with, and also activity/drawing/coloring books. When all else fails we have plenty of snacks as well.

The shortest distance we travel is 8 hours and the longest is 22, which we’ll be doing in about a month. They’re great at keeping themselves entertained with books, games, and the occasional movie. I’ve been wanting to try audio books for this trip we have coming up, so these stories would be very helpful 🙂

While they do get to watch a movie or play some games on various devices, we limit it to no more than half the car trip. The rest of the time, they love to listen to music, sparkle stories, and audiobooks, look at books, give each other “pedicures” with lotion and wash cloths, and play with toys.

I have a very active 5 year old. Long trips are necessary due to where we live. A trip for groceries can take an hour and a half. Some of our other trips are at least 5 hours. Keeping him calm and busy usually requires some planning. He loves to hear stories (fact or fiction). So, along the way we talk about how the landscape changes, the differences in the little towns along the way. Sometimes we create things to look for and imagine how they can be used. Having Sparkle Stories would be ideal! We have sampled Junkyard Tales and that really gets him going. He is very attentive and once the story is over he talks about the characters as if they were real. I get caught up in them too! We love you guys.

It was quite comical seeing my 2.5 yr old daughter hand my 6 yr old son Lego after Lego and he just added to his creation. We haven’t done many audio books, but I’ve heard awesome things about Sparkel stories.

I have two daughters, ages 7 and 4. They each have travel desks that attach to the back of the driver’s and passenger’s seats, which makes it easy for them to colour and draw while we’re on road trips. We also have a bag of activities that they only get to use on trips (so they keep their novelty). It includes magnetic playsets, travel aqua doodle, felt boards, sticker books, magna doodle, lacing cards, etc. We have a basket of books between their seats, and they love listening to audio stories. They LOVE Sparkle Stories’ Martin & Sylvia series, but our subscription is over, so winning this contest would be perfect timing! 😉

Our daughter is 6 and son is 2. On car trips we usually have a variety of different music genres playing, from jazz to classical to christian rock, or a book on CD. On longer car trips we add my daughter reading aloud either a story she made up or one that she brought, coloring/drawing/writing, playing “I Spy” or with small toys, if they don’t end up napping part of the time. My children are 7, 4, and 6 months. Obviously we listen to audio books and music when traveling. Sometimes we even break out the dvd player to keep everyone in the back seat occupied. Currentl,y the older kids are learning the alphabet and numbers (1-10) in sign language and they try to “talk” to eachother this way. In theory, it’s supposed to be quiet. It’s not completely silent…but at least they are not screaming!

My child is almost 2.5 years old. We have a very long car ride (10 hours) one way to visit my family. It is very difficult to be in the car that long because he is very active. We have to make frequent stops and get out to stretch our legs.
He really enjoys the Brainquest question books and frequently requests to play “questions.” He also likes to look at the GPS map and play “miles.” He will tell us which way to go, left or right, and loves to emphatically yell STOP. We also sing lots of songs.
He loves to make up stories to tell is and have us tell him stories. All of his stories start off: Once upon a time, there was a boy named (insert his name).
My son would absolutely love Sparkle Stories! And it would give Mommy and Daddy a break from having to come up with new stories the whole trip. 🙂
