They are designed to give parents the tools to teach higher-level scientific concepts to all styles of learners. Whether you have a kinesthetic learner or a visual one, your child can master everything from molecules and DNA to ecosystems and the carbon cycle.
As moms ourselves, we specifically designed the courses so they can be done easily at home or on a trip with minimal supplies—most materials can be cut directly from the course print out. We believe science can be done anywhere!
Each mini-course focuses on a different scientific concept, whether it be how airplanes fly or how dolphins echolocate.
Every mini-course is designed to appeal to all kinds of learners and a wide range of ages (grades K-5), and includes a beautifully illustrated story, a board or card game, a movement-based activity, a craft or modeling activity, and an experiment or outdoor exploration activity.
Try them with all the kids in your family—each person has his or her own best way to learn!
Each mini-course also includes additional resources to allow kids to follow their curiosity (the most important thing we can develop!) and concept badges kids can add to their Science Tool Kits (print out included in each mini-course.)

My kids are 5, 3, and 1 and we are most naturally curious about animals, especially birds, squirrels, and butterflies. And we are also interested in the moon and space.

My kids are 9, 7, 3 and 1.5. My 9 and 7 year olds are into LOTS of science – marine biology, astronomy, anything life-science related (I guess that’s what happens when your mom was a biology teacher for 18 years!), fun chem reactions, how things move, rockets….I think just about every week, there is a new request. We do lots of science but it can be hard to keep up with doing new things! Love the idea of these mini units!!
My children are 6 & 7 – the 6-year-old is interesting in marine animals, namely sharks, and the 7-year-old is interested in elephants (obsessed, really).

Wow! This give-away sounds perfect for us! My kids are 7 and just turned 11. We’ve been studying Monarchs and migration and just diving into a bit of botany. We also did a little bit about magnets. I notice I steer toward and aware from certain science topics, so I love the idea of this helping boost the topics I tend away from!

I am a foster/adoptive mom, and I just cannot understand how kids would not be interested in life (a.k.a. science). I am blessed to have two children right now who are curious. After reading for fun, curiosity with problem solving is my second academic goal .

My sons are 14 and 12 years old, and my daughter is 9. My eldest son loves his vegetable garden and watching it grow, the younger son enjoys building things like paper planes and improving on them, and he is very curious about science experiments, and my daughter likes caring for animals.

My kindergartener is crazy about “experiments”! We’ve grown crystals, built a volcano, and we’re starting on the leaves changing today.
I am homeschooling a 7-8 year old for the first time this year. We have been doing a lot of nature walks and she is always drawn to whatever is living in the water. I think we need a microscope next.
My children are ages 17, 16, 12, 11, 4 and 3! The older ones love airplanes the littles are curious about the changing of the leaves! Anything robot related for the middles.
Sometimes the older you get the less curious you become so thtis mini course sounds great!
My girls are 5 and 8. We’ve been traveling and they have seen all kinds of insects and small animals they’ve been learning about. We’ve also been able to see the stars very well at night and have been exploring about them.

My kids are 5 and 3 and my oldest is very interested in insects right now, especially giant South American centipedes (to mama’s dismay!) He’s also getting very interested in Mars and outer space since we watched the NASA press conference recently!
I have one daughter, 4 years old, and she’s very interested in skeletons right now. We’ve been learning about the human body as a result. That and animals of any type, though particularly birds, are very interesting to her.

My two older kids are 5yrs and 7yrs old and my two youngest are 2yrs and 11 months old. Our current obsession is learning about different trees particularly the baobab tree which grows in hot areas. Am still looking for a baobab pulp to show them but they are hard to find in South Africa were we live, as they mostly grow in central Africa like Zambia and Mozambique.

Hi. My kids are 5, 3 and 23 months. My five year old is naturally curious about waves and tides this week, my three year old is naturally curious about helium and floating, my 23 month old is very interested in our farm animals and fish.

With 4 kids 8 to 18months, there’s plenty of curiosity to go around! From furry animals, to the lizards, spiders and bugs outside, to wild flowers, to any and every experiment we’ve ever tried! Most recently they’ve enjoyed crystal growing experiments.

Hello, my daughters are 3 and 5.
They are curious about planting seeds, get excited when the seeds start to germinate, digging holes, playing with mud, experimenting with real foods, any kind of animals (except pig).
My homeschooled kids are 16, 12, 10, 6 and 3. Right now they’re fascinated by the human body.
Our boys are 7 and 9 and right now it is butterflies, their life cycles and migration.

My eight year old is interested in all things chemistry
My kids are 10,8,6,4 and 18 months. Currently they’re curious about pretty much anything science related. However, the 10 year old just got tadpoles in the mail so they are loving learning more about them.

My daughter is 10. She is naturally curious about atoms and molecules.
I have 3 kids, 8,6 and 3 – all very naturally curious! At the moment they are asking about how planes fly and how magnets work. Love this kid centred science.
My kids are 6, 4, 2 and 1. They are really into the human body right now.

My children are 10, 8 and 6; They are enjoying all the Autumn changes here in the UK, especially the animals preparing for hibernation.
My guy is 6 and his current favorite science topic is “everything” – but we have been learning about underwater sea exploration.

Space, animals, rocks
My children are 3, 6 and 9. They are most naturally curious about birds right now.
I have 6.5 yr old twins and we just finished a unit on dinosaurs. The next topic they want to explore is Fall, though this changes from day to day as they read books or play outside and want to explore whatever comes up in their daily lives 🙂
The child who would use this is my daughter who is 11. She has some cognitive delays and I struggle to do meaningful science with her. This sounds like just the ticket. She is fascinated by plants and animals.

My son is 8, and he’s curious about EVERYTHING….he’s like a human quiz machine some days! Recent interests are rabbit reproduction, sheep, and harvesting.

What an awesome giveaway! I have three boys. My oldest is almost 7 and wants to be a marine zoologist. My middle is 4.5 and wants to be a K9 officer. And my youngest is 18 months and just toddler curious about everything. It’s pretty easy to see that there is a love for animal studies in our house! We just finished a unit study on the planets and are starting our study on weather. We are also planning to study pollution and it’s effects on the ocean and my oldest is desperately requesting chemistry.

For us in Australia, spring has sprung. So my younger kids at the moment are finding all the little insects buzzing and crawling around fascinating. I have four at home – 14, 11, 6, 4; any sort of experiment ALWAYS goes down well. Thanks!
Our girls are 6, 3 and 5 months. We have a spider that made a web right outside our windows so they have been able to get a close up view of how a spider lives and catches it’s prey! It is so cool and so nice to see it up close but also to know it is outside! ???? They are fascinated by it.

My boys (4 & 6) love the weather. We’re into weather journaling right now, which has been a great way to integrate spelling, penmanship, math & time telling. And, weather log symbols are just really cool. It’s been a fun time of year to track the changing temperatures and watch the turning leaves.

My kids are 7 and 6. My son loves airplanes, physical science, building, etc. My daughter loves animals and chemistry. We would love to win.
I have 4 year old daughter who is interested in how leave change and fall and, as always, what bugs and animals are living around us and how they live. She also is interested in trees and flowers growing.

My 4.5 year old is naturally curious about space science and how pretty much everything works. 🙂
My children are 6, 4, 2, and 1….They are naturally curious about wildlife animals in their natural habitat, animal anatomy (we raise our own livestock for meat and butcher occasionally) , as well as astronomy (we like to identify constellations and study the stars) and also gardening- planting seeds, etc.

My 2 year old likes to watch bugs whenever we see them in the yard, and he loves robots. My 11 year old asks about random stuff like breathing in space, heat transfer in cooking food, animals, architecture, and how batteries work. My 3 month old just likes to eat and sleep and figure out how to get his hand in his mouth. 🙂

My kids are seven, five, and one. My oldest is feeling naturally curious about her body and how it works. My five year old is interested in whatever his sister likes. 🙂 The baby is interested is gravity, in particularly how it relates to food being dropped from his tray.

My 4 yr old loves all things science! He loves looking up at the stars, loves learning about rockets and space shuttles….he loves gardening and learning about how things grow…and he absolutely loves learning about animals – especially Tigers! These mini-courses look fabulous!
My girls are 6&8. Their questions recently are about what things go back into the earth and what doesn’t (decomposing). Why do we have worms and if they breathe w their skin how do they not suffocate under ground digging tunnels. Ants how do they know where they are going. What is a shooting star. These are this weeks science questions.

My primary/elementary kids are 7, 9 and 12. They would be keen to look at molecules, DNA and carbon. Science is particularly a favourite of my 7 year old, especially anything to do with rocks and geology.
