My children are 8, 6 and 3. When I was in graduate school, I studied Philosophy of Education. A close friend was a Jeffersonian Scholar, and we talked a lot about Jefferson. Funny thing is, I know almost nothing about this approach. I recently read A Thomas Jefferson Education, and next to me on my desk is The Phases of Learning by DeMille. I would love to win this giveaway because it seems perfectly timely to where we are in our homeschooling journey. Thus far we’ve been solid unschoolers, but as my oldest is getting older, I see and feel the need to focus her energy (on more than mindcraft!). I am also interested in Jefferson Education as my husband works for Bard college, the president of the college has written a book called Jefferson’s Children which I have skimmed but not read in its entirety yet. This sounds like a great product for my children who are 10 and 15. I remember when I was in high school that I had a class that did the days events from local newspapers and I loved it. We did everything like a regular class assignments but when we didn’t like what was happening the teacher told us to write to our congress men. It was very exciting. My students are 12 and 13. With one about to start high school at home, we need a more intentional course of study. I love the idea of centering our studies around history. It’s the subject I learn the most from right along with my children. Trying a new curriculum can be very expensive so I’d enjoy trying this one for free.

Our sons are 9 and 7 and love history. We immerse in westward expansion history because I work at Fort Laramie NHS. They read other history, but seeing it in a weekly format would be so much fun.
My son, 9, loves history, devours it, in fact. We were kind of introduced to the TJ way of education when we tried Classical Conversations. We ultimately dropped out of the program, but still love the philosophy.

My son is 6 and I just found out about the Thomas Jefferson philosophy. We’ve naturally been applying the philosophy before I read about it and this package would really help bring the curriculum together while I incorporate it with our Waldorf learning.

I’m really inspired by the TJEd info I read on your blog and have been striving to loosen up our homeschool so my boys have more time to explore their own interests. We have kids ages 12, 11,8,6,2,and 2mo (but currently only the 6yo is homeschooling.) Am hoping to bring several back to homeschooling next year. This Week in History sounds like a great way to make study of history more interactive and fun, a nice supplement to what we’re currently doing.

My kids are 5 and 6. We are newly into this whole homeschooling thing and I have been curious about the TJed approach as of late – would love to have some of my own resources about it. And, “This Week in History,” sounds like an amazing resource that we’d love to try out!
The comment that it “connects the subject areas–from music to math, from geography to world religions, from hobbies to science projects” is what appeals to me. My girls are 10, 8, 5, and 21 months. So something that is more planned out and connects lots of subject is just what I need. 🙂

My kids love history, I don’t feel excellent at teaching it but enjoy learning alongside of them what I somehow missed in my own education, and our current curriculum is the opposite of exciting. 😉
My boys are 8 and 5. I have been really interested in TJ Education from reading your blog for the last few years. We are in our second year of home schooling and while we have found many things that work well I feel like there is still some guiding principal that is missing. We tend to be pretty unschooly but I do enjoy a sense of structure which is why many of things I read about TJED intrigue me. This would be a great way to begin our research!

I want to love learning with my kids again.
My children are 2,4,6 and 8 years old. I have a two fold reason I would love to win this package. One, I am in desperate need of help in the history department! And two, as a student I struggled with history but as an adult I’ve become fascinated by all that I missed growing up. In teaching my little ones I become a student myself and often feel inadequate when communicating lessons.
