Giveaway: $150 Kindle Fire HD 7

August 4, 2015 //  by Jamie C. Martin

This post includes affiliate links, and I receive a percentage of each sale.
Giveaway: Kindle Fire HD7
Written by Jamie Martin of Simple Homeschool and Steady Mom

This giveaway has ended; thanks for your interest!

I have a love-love relationship with my Kindle. I wasn’t sure about non-paper reading a couple of years ago when I ordered it initially, but since then I’ve become a total convert.

Not that I’ve turned my back on paper books altogether, mind you. But I love that I can take my Kindle when I go work at the library or a coffee shop and have more than 100 books right in my bag, all as light as a single paperback!

Kindles have become one of my favorite gifts as well–I gave one to my daughter Trishna for Christmas a while ago and I recently gave one to Steve just because.

Screen Shot 2015-08-01 at 9.48.03 AM

And this week, I want to give away a Kindle Fire HD7 to one of you!

What’s the occasion

As I mentioned in Monday’s post, this week is the 4th annual iHomeschool network ebook bundle sale.

It’s a collection of over $750 worth of homeschooling resources available through Sunday, August 9th for only $25!

Over 70 ebooks are included in the bundle, and these colorful resources will be uber-easy to download and read on a lovely new Kindle, allowing you to take your homeschooling inspiration on-the-go wherever you go: while watching the children at the park, for a Mom’s sanity evening out, or to the library while the kids browse the shelves.

Note: The Omnibus itself is NOT included in this giveaway, so keep that in mind if you’re hoping to purchase it before the sale ends on Sunday!

How to win

Note: This giveaway has ended; thanks for your interest!

Step 1. This giveaway is open to subscribers of this blog, Simple Homeschool, who live in the U.S. So sorry, international readers!

If you aren’t a subscriber, not a problem! Sign up here (it’s FREE!), then make sure you confirm your subscription via email to make it active.

Step 2. After you’ve become a subscriber, head here to read about this year’s Homeschool Omnibus.

Look for the title of at least one resource you think might make your parenting/homeschool life easier in the months ahead.

iHomeschool Network's 4th annual Omnibus sale • the original homeschool bundle

Step 3. Then leave a comment on this post, answering this question: “How old are your children, and which resource from this year’s Omnibus do you think might be a help to you right now?”

Note: This giveaway has ended; thanks for your interest!

(If you’re reading this via email or reader, you must click here to leave your comment on this post at Simple Homeschool. Comments or emails left elsewhere don’t count as entries.)

By following the instructions above, anyone can receive one entry to win!

IMG_9827

Here are two more ways to increase your chances of winning:

1. Readers who purchase the Homeschool Omnibus through my links receive TWO extra entries!

After purchasing the bundle, just forward your receipt to bonus(at)infusedcomms(dot)com

Leave an initial comment on this post following the instructions above, then an additional comment that says “I bought the omnibus!” (That means you’ll get a total of 3 entries!)

2. For one extra entry, share this giveaway with your friends on Facebook. Then leave another comment telling me you did so.

If you do all of the above you can receive a maximum of FOUR entries. I’m going to have so much fun emailing someone on Monday to let them know they’ve won!

This giveaway has ended and the winner is Danielle, who wrote: “My children are 14, 10 and 8. Good grief, it’s hard to choose just one resource but if you pinned my arm behind my back and made me choose – it would have to be Beautifully Broken: Finding Joy in the Pain. My youngest son has significant disabilities and this title really spoke to my heart.”

Oh, I can’t wait to read A Gentle Answer! I have a 5, 3, 2, 1 year old with #5 on the way. I chose the word gentleness to focus on this year as we begin our homeschooling journey. It’s so easy to get flustered with little ones. The demands are on-going, but when I approach them with gentleness the atmosphere of our home is so peaceful. So I’m working on making it my top response in our home.

My children are 6 and 2 (will be 7 and 3 soon). The resource that might be a help to me right now is A to Z Toddler and Preschool Curriculum, because I sent my daughter to preschool and don’t plan to send my son, so it would be helpful to figure out what to do. And also Hope for the Heart of the Homeschool Mom: Encouragement for the Days When Sanity is Limited, because I love Jamerrill Stewart’s videos and articles, and have been meaning to read her book.

My kids are 5,3 and 2 so homeschooling is a completely new and slightly overwhelming adventure we’re diving into this fall. Blueprint Homeschooling: How to Plan a Year of Home Education That Fits the Reality of Your Life would be a great resource to have on hand right now as I figure out how to start homeschooling my son and still tend to the younger ones.

Right now there are quite a few ebooks from the bundle that would be a help, but I guess I would say Basic Science Notebooking Pages and Graphic Organizers will help us as we are stepping out of using curriculum and exploring interest-led science this year. Comic Books for Kids is a close second as my boys all love reading comics!

I think Plan to Be Flexible: Designing A Homeschool Rhythm and Curriculum Plan That Works for Your Family & * If I Could Do it Over: What I learned as I traveled along the homeschool journey, but wish I knew at the very start (MP3) sound very helpful.

So many terrific titles to choose from! I homeschool my 11 year old daughter, and she’s expressed interest in learning American Sign Language, so I know she’ll be excited that I’ll be downloading a resource for that in the bundle. But for me? I’m looking forward to hearing the MP3 “Homeschool Transitions from Elementary to Middle to High School.” Thanks for the contest entry!

I have a 13 year old boy, and 8 year old girl and a unexpected 3 month old. this is just our second year of homeschooling so the homeschool omnibus will be a tremendous resource for us. my first pick will be Plan to Be Flexible: Designing a Homeschool Rhythm and curriculum.

Hi! I have a son who will be 2 in August and an almost 4 month old daughter. We are in the process of deciding if homeschooling is right for us, so the omnibus will be a huge beneficial resource for us. My husband is supportive of it, but hesitant because the plan was for me to start work outside the home when the kids start kindergarten. This would put a financial strain on us and make it more difficult to save money to buy land. I’ve been praying and hope God will guide us. So, naturally I’m excited to read Discover the Joy of Letting God lead your home, A to Z Toddler and Preschool Cirriculum, Homeschool 101, Homeschooling 101, and Homeschool Planner. So many good ones! It’s hard to pick just one.

My boys are 7, 2 1/2 and 8 months. I’m homeschooling my oldest and he will be starting 2nd grade next month. My toddler is mostly nonverbal so I think the most useful thing for me would be * American Sign Language Done Right Volume One! I would love to learn this to help him communicate better. We’ve so far only attempted very basic signs. I would also like * From Frazzled to Focused: 7 Planning Tools for Busy Moms.

There is a ton to choose from! I’m starting preschool with my daughter, so I know A to Z Toddler and Preschool Curriculum, Basic Shapes for Beginners, Encompass Preschool Curriculum, and others like that will help there. For my son I think American Sign Language Done Right Volume One, Bringing Computer Science to Your Classroom, and Sharks Chalk Pastel Art for All Ages are just a tiny bit of the ones that I could use for him. Seriously, that is a HUGE list!

My homeschooler is 5 and has mastered most of our kindergarten material from our casual playing and games so now we’re ready for structure. I think starting with“Creating a Schedule That Works” is my best bet along with how to teach different personality types.

What a huge blessing this would be for our family. My kids are 15 and 12 and we’ve been struggling with burnout and do not own a tablet or kindle. I think it could reignite the joy in our homeschooling. I especially liked the offering in the omnibus package called, “Hope for the Heart of the Homeschool Mom: Encouragement for the Days When Sanity is Limited” -although it was hard to choose one because there’s so many involving getting through high school and preparing for college. I am just beginning homeschooling this year with my five year old and i feel like I have no idea where to start so having a kindle with the ability to have so many resources would be wonderful! 🙂

  457. Chandra Regan

    August 8, 2015 at 12:44 am

We’re in a rather unique situation. My daughter is actually 20 years old and just graduated from high school. However, she has many delays, as she was raised in an orphanage in Thailand and just became part of our family six and a half years ago as a teenager. We started homeschooling in high school, because there were so many gaps to fill in and she literally hated public school and BEGGED me to home school her. She actually got accepted to a community college this year, (where she is planning to start in about two week)s, after having to retake their entrance exam, due to the difficult writing portion. Not too bad for only having known English for six and a half years! But, I would love the resource from the Omnibus called “College Prep: Is Writing on Track?” among several others. However, I’ve never had any kind of e-reader device. So, if I win this one, I’ll be overjoyed!

The very first book I will read of this incredible library is “Trust without Borders.” This will be my first year homeschooling with Olivia (8), James (6), George (3) and David (18mos). Both the call to homeschool my children and my own resistance to do it (despite my belief that it’s the best), have been woven through this past year. The leap into homeschool is one “border” that is scary for me to cross. The struggle to trust is always new and changing, but God has never failed to provide the net. I see this Omnibus offer as another signpost to leap 🙂

I could swear I already entered, but I don’t see my comment above–so I’m sorry if this is a duplicate! My kids are 6 and 2, and I think the preschool resources would be most helpful, as I didn’t homeschool my daughter until kindergarten so I don’t have any preschool resources at the moment.

my chidren are 13, 11, 8, and 6. I think the “Eating Well on a Budget” and the “Weekly Meal Planner”. Being home all day sometimes leads to excess snacking, so I think these would be helpful in getting better organized in the kitchen.

I would love the ASL like a boss – we have friends in the neighborhood that both parents are deaf, and all three kids hearing. I love the mom and would like to be more confident in signing like her and in teaching my kids to sign.

My daughter is 7. I think homeschooling an only child, flexible planning, American Sign Language, practical guide to introducing foreign language, teaching music, your retreat, and a host of others.

My children are ages 13, 12, and 9. There are so many great resources in the Omnibus this year! I’m gearing up for final touches to my planning for the coming school year, and I think Blueprint Homeschooling and Plan to Be Flexible would both be good encouragement in making sure I’m on the right track.

I have a 2, 4, and 8 year old. My 4 year old always want to do “school work” when my oldest is doing her work. The preschool resources would be amazing. Also, the resources about chores would be great. It’s hard to find a balance between teaching responsibility and giving them too much “work”.

We are starting homeschool this year with our 5 year old! I also have a 3 year old, a 20 month old, and a newborn. Life is crazy! I think “Celebrate Homeschool: Create Your Own Traditions” would be awesome to help start our year off on the right foot!
