Welcome to this weekend’s giveaway–hosted by Great Homeschool Conventions!

Great Homeschool Conventions will hold its 2013 regional conventions in South Carolina (March) and Ohio (April). Each convention features a huge Homeschool Curriculum exhibit hall.

This year’s featured speakers include Tim Hawkins, Gianna Jessen, Andrew Pudewa, Todd Wilson, Steve Demme, Crystal Paine, Dr. Jay Wile, Dr. Carol Reynolds…and yours truly!!

I will be speaking at the convention in Ohio–if you live nearby I hope you’ll attend! I’d love the chance to meet you at one of my sessions or my exhibitor booth.

Attendees get to choose from hundreds of encouraging, equipping, information-packed workshops…selecting those workshops that are most applicable to YOUR homeschooling efforts. There is also an optional children’s program and a special track for teens–real faith for the real world.

    This is our family’s first year of home school after private schooling for 8 years. Friends encouraged us to attend this conference last year before we began. Now that we are settling into our routine I see what a huge blessing the Greenville convention would be for our family!

      I’ll chime in on this one…I got some great advice when my daughter was 3, almost 4. My friend told me to go to a convention and start checking things out the year BEFORE you need to start making decisions about curriculum, etc. (so for me, I went in March 2011 and we started homeschool in July 2012). That way you can take your time and look around without feeling overwhelmed with decision-making when you’re still new to it all. I’m SO glad I did that. It was an inspiring environment and gave me lots of food for thought and ideas to explore further in the year between the convention and getting started. When I was there the first time I remember thinking that if I had to actually start a few months later I would have felt utterly overwhelmed, but instead DH and I just enjoyed ourselves with no pressure at all and we had a lot to talk about afterwards. We chose to do a light kindergarten year (reading/phonics, handwriting and math) and I had enough info ahead of time to feel confident in my decision, and we’re very happy with it so far.
