The top 10 posts from 2012

December 31, 2012 //  by Jamie C. Martin

Jamie Martin, editor of Simple Homeschool, also blogs about motherhood at Steady Mom

In 2012 there have been more than 150 posts published on this blog. Incredible, isn’t it?!

I write what I write and do what I do with one main aim–the hope that as a reader you will find encouragement and inspiration here to add to your homeschooling journey. And I’m so thankful for the incredible contributors on this blog who do the same.

I no longer try to mentally gauge which posts will get a big reaction or response from readers–I have been surprised time and time again on that point. I do my best to write from the heart, and trust that somehow each post speaks to those it was intended for.

Here are the top ten posts from Simple Homeschool in 2012 (listed in order of their posting dates). If you’ve missed any along the way, or if you’d like a reread, here’s your chance to catch up!

1. I refuse to steal my kids’ dreams (On homeschooling as a social movement)

2. The myth of the uninvolved unschooler

3. Lessons learned from Little House

4. 5 things I hate about homeschooling (& how I deal with them) – and its counterpart: 5 things I love about homeschooling

5. What about ME: On taking care of yourself as a homeschooling mom

6. On why I stopped taking my children to the library

7. An open letter to my non-homeschooling friends

8. Are homeschooled kids weird?

9. Teaching kids to bake–the whys and hows

10. Newtown as I know it – My heart and many tears went into this post; thank you so much for your lovely and comforting response to it.

I hope you’ll meet me back here on Wednesday as we kick off our annual homeschool day in the life series–see you then.

“Ring out the old, ring in the new,
Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
The year is going, let him go;
Ring out the false, ring in the true.”
~ Alfred, Lord Tennyson, 1850
