The kids I nanny have been exposed to very basic spanish and french – basically what you might find in a children’s book. They have also been exposed to sign language, which is their favorite!

My child has been exposed to Spanish a little just by me, our maid and living in Texas. Of course there is also Dora. She was exposed to Norwegian for 4 months when we lived in Oslo.

My children haven’t been exposed to another language yet. They are 4 years and 1 month. I’m ready to start schooling my 4 year old though and learning another language would be a great addition.
I’ve been trying to decide how and when to begin a foreign language study with my young sons. So, no second language exposure yet.

I have raised my four daughters speaking French and English in the home, but my youngest has been asking if I will teach her Spanish! I’m off to look at the La Clase divertida link now 🙂
My son is being raised bilingual in English and German because my husband’s from Austria. He’s also been exposed to some Spanish and a bit of Italian. I would love the opportunity to train him more in Spanish as well.

My boys were born while we were living in Israel, so they have been exposed to Hebrew and Arabic. We are now living in the US, and have started to learn Spanish. I am currently looking for a curriculum to use next year in our homeschool, so this would be fantastic!!

We live overseas so we are exposed to Bahasa Indonesian on a daily basis.

My in laws only speak spanish and we are getting ready to live with them!! My twin 4year olds and I don’t speak spanish so this will be an adventure!
Living overseas our children are exposed to Indonesian and it is very cute when they try to say the words they hear.
We lived in China for several years when our oldest was a baby, so she was learning Chinese as she learned to speak English. When she was 2 she had a small vocabulary of Chinese words, but then we came back to the U.S., and now 5 years later she doesn’t remember much of what she knew. But my husband and I do know some Chinese, and we’ll teach the kids some words from time to time.

Although I don’t speak it fluently, it has been really important to me that my children be exposed to Hebrew. Besides hearing it in Shul on Saturdays, my oldest goes to school where many of the children are native Hebrew speakers, and the teachers use Hebrew everyday. I would love to be able to expose them to another language as they get older.

My little boy has been exposed to some foreign language (as I am multi-lingual)…but we hope to give him opportunities to become fluent in at least as many languages as myself. Spanish is easier, as we live in Texas and he also has some Peruvian relatives who married into my side of the family. Romanian will be harder for him to get here in the US, but I hope to expose him to that as well. Any other languages he wants to learn will be available to him as well. I feel that it is very important to learn other languages and cultures and not be so insular as people in the US tend to be.

I am planning on using La Clase Divertida this coming school year but have not purchased yet…I would love to win it and save the money! 🙂 My kids have had some very basic Spanish, and then 1 year of Latin…I am wanting to focus on Spanish a little bit more next year and have been researching options for a few months now. My father-in-law is fluent in spanish (he’s actually a college spanish teacher) and when he is around, he gives them crash courses in basic spanish. We’ve been working on basic, handy spanish phrases and I try to remember to use them as often as possible and to work in vocabulary when I can. We also count a lot in spanish, german and french. We would love to go a bit further in our quest to learn spanish!

My in-laws speak French and we’ve been to Paris and french-speaking parts of Africa. I do hope to try the rosetta stone french with my littles…maybe next year (expensive but effective?). My children have been exposed to Spanish through their grandparents who have been missionaries in Ecuador for 20 years. La Clase Divertida is a curriculum I have been considering purchasing after seeing it in The Well-Trained Mind. Can’t wait to get my kids really going with Spanish!

The only foreign language my children have been exposed to is the one my 4 year old has created for himself. He likes to think he can speak other languages, so I think he would really enjoy learning how to actually speak spanish.
we play music cds in many different languages, and I try to use my minimal knowledge of French and Spanish to expose them to some words. Our neighbors speak French at home, so I am hoping to expose them to that, maybe pay her to give actual lessons.

Three of my five children are adopted from Ethiopia – so that means all 5 have been exposed to different languages (Amharic and English!) Spanish was my minor in college, but, sadly, I have not pushed it much with my kids. Would love to get something going for them to spur me on!!!
I am really excited about this giveaway. I have been searching for a spanish curriculum for my children. We live and work in Costa Rica with children at risk. I am in my first year of homeschooling and one of my biggest concerns in starting to homeschool was that my children would lose the Spanish they were learning in school. And it´s true – that´s exactly what´s happening. I love the benefits of homeschooling and am enjoying it immensely, but my one regret or problem I can’t fully resolve is the Spanish. It’s been really hard to find a curriculum, especially on a missionary budget. I have simple homeschool subscribed in my reader and also linked on my blog site! Thanks!

Awesome prizes.
My children have been exposed to Spanish all of their lives. My mother-in-law is fairly fluent, and my husband strongly believes that our girls need to know how to speak Spanish living in our area. I have been through several different curriculum resources, and our oldest is just going into first grade! Right now we are focusing on reading to the girls in Spanish, since our library has a pretty decent selection of Spanish language children’s books. I would love to get my hands on La Clase Divertida, though…the DVD instruction sounds like it would be great!
We are lucky enough to get to travel to Mexico yearly and my kids are starting to make friends there. Hopefully on one of these trips they will venture out more into speaking the language! I have been looking for an affordable language curriculum to work on at home.

(I know they should be fluent, already, but my background was French literature, so that is where the bulk of my vocabulary is, too.) My girls have not formally been exposed to any other languages. However, we do hear many other languages while we are out and about.
I have some Spanish skills and have always tried to pepper some Spanish throughout the kids’ childhood. Especially with Copa del Mundo on when dad gets home each night, my youngest has really taken an interest in Spanish so we’re sure to take advantage of that!
We haven’t started with foreign language yet–but I’m planning for us to all learn Spanish together.

I would love to win the Spanish lessons kit! My two daughters have been exposed to a tiny bit of Spanish when we lived in Tucson, AZ, and both seemed very curious about another language. This would be great for us.
My kids had a little french in preschool, a little Spanish in K/1 and my son had a little exposure to Japanese with my husband from Rosetta Stone. I want to start a language in the fall, but they are expensive and I don’t know what will work best. So excited about this one.

We have many friends from south & central america (El Salvador, Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, Chile) and hear a lot of Spanish– I”m not fluent, but we are always trying to learn a few new words and teach the children the right accent.
Although my daughter is only 4 months old, I try to speak Spanish to her as often as possible, and take advantage of the fact that my best friend is a Spanish professor too. 🙂

My son has been exposed to Spanish briefly through Dora, but he mixes lots of Spanish in his daily vocabularily. I would love for him to learn more.

Oh, this would be so perfect! I am bilingual in Spanish and English. My son understands a lot of Spanish… but he does not want to speak it because none of his cousins speak Spanish. He doesn’t want to be the only one. I’ve been looking for a curriculum to use with him to help reinforce it.

My sister and her husband have lived in Afghanistan and are fluent in Dari, which we love to hear them speak. Otherwise, Dora is (sadly!) the extent of their Spanish language exposure. But since I once lived in Honduras as an infant/pre-schooler and in those early years spoke some of both languages, I’m eager for us ALL to learn Spanish!

When our kids come along, we REALLY want to get them exposed to other languages. Most likely Spanish, but I’d love to get them connected to an Asian language. We’ve both learned some Korean and Thai, but not enough to converse well.

We are trying, as best we can, to expose our 3 year old to a second language. My husband and I both speak passable French, so that is what we’re going with. However, we’d like to expose him to Spanish as well.

I don’t know whether this counts as a “foreign” language, but we have worked on teaching our children American Sign Language. They’re still young so we haven’t done a lot yet, but we hope to do more this year.
My 18 month old daughter understands English and Spanish equally well. She is starting to say different words and phrases that we can make out and they are both English and Spanish. My husband only spoke Spanish until he was 18 and I learned how to speak Spanish. I would love this curriculum for homeschooling my daughter and teaching her to read and write Spanish too!

I occasionally pick up my high school spanish and use as much of it as I can to communicate during a day. My son will ask, “Mom, what are you talking?” He’s 2 1/2 and has learned that if ever he doesn’t understand what Mommy is saying, maybe she’s using another language. 🙂

My two children began school & continued in a Waldorf school for 3 1/2 years until last February (2010) when we decided to homeschool. Both (ages 7 and 9) had Spanish twice a week in the classroom, and we didn’t want that to stop. We were invited to join a couple local homeschooling families who hired (fortunate for us) the same Spanish teacher to come in to their home twice a week to teach their children. Much to my childrens benefit we enjoyed the remainder of the year continuing their Spanish lessons in the same manner as when they were in a classroom, but with much more freedom and joy.

My husband is from Mexico so we also speak Spanish in our home. Well, we being my husband and I, the girls mostly speak English but at least they understand most of the Spanish.

3 of my boys closest friends speak primarily spanish. The only English they speak is at church. We spend as much time with them as possible outside of church.
Not much yet! Though I would live to teach them spanish. My two oldest (ages 3 and 5) know how to say some colors, but that’s about it so far.

My kids have been (minimally) exposed to Spanish, only when I choose to speak it with them, or when we read the few children’s books we have in Spanish.

My oldest has studied latin for 2 years. My littles and I are starting Spanish next school year!
my oldest child took mommy and me spanish classes for about a year before her brothers came on the scene. now it feels as if the language acquired during that time is a distant memory.
hmmm does being born in India count?
Well besides that we jsut have Dora over here…I’ve been thinking about looking into Spanish DVD’s for the kids. We tried ‘Muzzy’ for fun once from the library but it wasnt a hit.
The only exposure my daughter has gotten to a foreign language is Dora.

My hubby is from Mex City but I only speak English. When my in-laws lived in town, my kids were exposed to Eng/Span but when they moved away, so did the 2nd language… but we hope to re-vive it!
Mine hasn’t been exposed to a foreign language yet, but we would like to become expats in Europe or somewhere cool.

Yes, my children have been *exposed*to Spanish, as well as French, but speak only English fluently. We live in SW FL and it is almost a MUST that we understand Spanish. 😉 We have Rosetta Stone, but it has not worked well for us. My husband and I looked at La Clase Divertida at the FPEA Homeschool Convention – I’d LOVE to give it a try!! 🙂

We are part of an International Playdate so my toddler has been exposes to Japanese, German, French, Swedish, Spanish and Chinese. Time to focus on one language though and (as I speak Spanish) I think we’re going with Spanish! This is PERFECT!

My kids went to a spanish class for about 5 weeks. We also have many spanish speaking members at our church.
We’ve been using Spanish flashcards to learn everyday words. We’re also blessed with family members who speak Italian, French and Russian so I’m hoping to have a introduce these through some wonderful vintage children’s books I’ve found.
I’ve been trying to teach a bit of spanish to my 4-year-old and would love this curriculum!
I grew up in S. Korea so I speak Korean to my son and work to introduce the culture I grew up in to him.

My son has not been exposed to a foreign language yet. However, I have been looking into different curriculum options, and would love to win!
Currently my oldest son is learning Latin but we would love to continue the exposure to Spanish because they (my oldest and youngest sons) currently watch and love Diego and Dora.

We are a military family. My 4 year old was born in California and when he was 9 months old we moved to Sicily, where we had our, now, 2.5 year old. We didn’t expose them (or ourselves) to the language enough. We are now moving to Mexico City in two weeks and we are determined to learn Spanish! This would be so awesome to kick start the boys language skills (and mine, too!)

My low have been exposed to some Spanish though Dora. They can all count to 10 as good as they can in English. I would love for them to learn more.

My son is around some Spanish speakers in our neighborhood and in local businesses.
our children were born in guatemala. our family has traveled to central america regularly and hope to continue doing so. as a family we are trying to learn spanish both for sentimental reasons and for necessity.

My daughter has not been formally exposed to another language, but hears plenty in our extremely diverse area. She plays with a friend across the street who speaks mostly Spanish and limited English. They just laugh and run around together and seem to communicate with giggles!

We are an English-speaking family, but we live in an Hispanic majority community, so my kids hear and see Spanish around them in the neighborhood all the time.
Oh, geez. The language question. See, it’s like this. My husband is a first generation American, so my son learns Flemish and Italian along with English. My father is also a first generation American, so he also gets to learn German. And I had a French minor in college.
Add in Kai-Lan and Dora and my kid is the FBI’s dream in about 20 years.
My daughter has been exposed to some Spanish. I am able to speak it fairly well (although I am not a native speaker!) and I try to speak to her in Spanish and expose her to television programs and books in Spanish.

We have a 4 year old and two 2 year olds. We have not taught anything formally to them but have worked on Sign Language (ASL)-which I guess isn’t really a foreign language, Spanish and some Amharic (spoken in Ethiopia). We are working with one of our two year olds on English…for him, coming from Ethiopia it’s his third language that he’s been exposed to-so I guess it’s foreign to him. 🙂
I am trying to teach my children the Greek alphabet.
My littles are exposed to foreign languages on a daily basis. We live in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the United States and hear everything from Spanish to Korean to icelandic.

My kids have been exposed to Spanish. My husband and I speak a little as well as my grandparents.
Hmmm…small bits of lots of languages! We have lived in Korea for the past 2 years, so they were immersed in it, but speak very little. They have visited China, Japan, & Thailand, but again, it’s just the basics of each language to be polite! This would be awesome!!

Yes – Latin and Spanish
My children, ages 3, 5, 7, and 9, have not been exposed to a foreign language, but I would love for them to learn one.
Well, around here it’s a competition between mama’s affinity for spanish and daddy’s love of french…but more consistently they’re learning sign language. We’d both love for them to get the sound of foreign languages in their ears and under their tongue…not just in their hands!

Our daughter is very lucky to be exposed to another language. My husband is from Mexico so he and his family will often speak Spanish to Ellie! We are also working on teaching her sign language too!

My son is exposed to many different language….at the playground! Our neighborhood is so diverse, other Parents are always speaking to their children in Spanish, French, and other languages I can’t decipher.

My guys have been exposed to Spanish thanks to my husband and his family. I think a second (or third, or fourth) language is such a wonderful gift to give a child. They also hear some German and know a bit of American Sign Language. Thanks for another great giveaway.
