  58. Samantha Lehmann

    August 25, 2015 at 10:01 am

I have always used either SL or BS – so we do history in cycles. I have 3 kids – and this year we are all going to be doing US history together. 😉 Pray for us! I am trying to lighten our backpacks – you answered my prayers with that post!!! Thank you SO much!
My favorite time period would have to NOW be the Ancients. I learned so little about them in school – and we learned SO much – who knew that so much was happening at the same time in God’s world historically! India, China, Africa, Meso, Greece, England… it just astounds me. My kids, too. Learning that the Ancient Mayans had the wheel but didn’t use it because they didn’t have pack animals and did better on foot – just on toys…. wow! And China – SO many dynasties! So much culture. We saw the terra cotta warrior exhibit in Washington, DC at Nat Geo and we were blessed to see the King Tut exhibit in NYC and Cleopatara in Philly! WOW! Coins with Marc A found on the bottom of the Med Sea – can you imagine being an underwater archaeologist? My son’s favorite game is STILL that making a mummy game on the Internet! You can never learn it all or enough!

  59. Mike Bullard

    August 25, 2015 at 10:01 am

My daughters are 6 and 11. My oldest currently loves the Civil War, but her favorite is usually whatever she is currently studying. The youngest one’s favorite era is probably whichever historical American Girl doll she is infatuated with at the time.

My kiddos are in the 5th and 6th grade. We just finished an entire year doing Prairie Primer with the Little House books so I would say that currently it is the pioneer days. But we are moving onto a year long study of WWII jumping off our literature study of The Chronicles of Narnia. Is it too much to hope that their next favorite period will be that, because I am putting so much work and excitement into it??

    Hi
My girls are 6 and 4. We just started teaching them history so I can’t answer that question. The only thing we have really taught them is stories from the bible.
    Thanks

My kids are nearly 3 & nearly 5. And while History doesn’t seem like something they’d be into, they are! We love the Geronimo Stilton books (graphic novels w/history lines). I’d say right now our favorite time period is the Revolutionary War – we are slowly working our way through Liberty’s Kids. Its led to lots of discussions about what is freedom and how we became a country.
