Screen Shot 2016-01-18 at 7.26.31 AM

Oak Meadow has provided flexible, progressive homeschooling curriculum for students in kindergarten to grade 12 since 1975.

Our student-centered, nature-based curriculum allows families to set their own rhythm of learning and encourages creativity and intellectual development through hands-on activities and interdisciplinary projects.

Families love our organic approach to home education, whether they use it independently or through enrollment in our distance learning school. And high school students can truly take charge of their own learning, thanks to the many options we offer.

New at Oak Meadow!

Giveaway: $570 curriculum package from Oak Meadow

  • Revision of our K-8 curriculum was completed in late 2015. We clarified assignments, updated factual information, provided additional instruction, and added assignment checklists, planners, materials lists, and learning assessment rubrics to track student progress.
  • Digital delivery of our PreK-8 curriculum is now available. Especially useful for families who travel or live remotely, or for whom high shipping costs and long delivery times discourage purchase of print materials.
  • Two new homeschool planners just published! Oak Meadow Homeschool Parent Planner, for parents with students in grades K-4; and Oak Meadow Student Planner, for students from fifth grade through high school.
  • First distance school ever to earn accreditation from New England Association for Schools and Colleges.

I have an eight year old Homeschooler who is going strong with his own pieced together curriculum. My little one will be kindergarten aged soon and I feel that Oak Meadow would be such a good fit for her. She’s artistic, a story lover, and a nature lover and I want to be sure to encourage these traits.

My daughter is 11 years old. We will be using Oak Meadow in the Fall and I can’t wait. I have researched home school material until I could weep with exhaustion over it. Oak Meadow came out the very clear winner. They are clear in their instruction. Offer plenty of support for both the student and the parent. Their curriculum is sound and based on tried and true methods for teaching.

My monkeys are 3, 4, and 6. We use Oak Meadow for first grade with our oldest. I love how nature based it its, how it focuses on letting the child be creative and hands on. I also enjoy how fluid the lessons are: It gives me the basic outline and we can run with it however my daughter wants. Some lessons take all of five minutes, and some concepts she holds tight to for days!

We’ve used an eclectic piecemeal approach so far and would love to give Oak Meadow a try!

I love the whole child approach to the Oak Meadow curriculum. I have been incorporating Waldorf methods into our homeschooling, over the past two years, and it would be wonderful to work with a more complete curriculum, professionally designed, that is influenced by Waldorf methods. My son loves the hands on, creative aspects of learning, while I’m interested in how Oak Meadow meets the needs of students at different developmental levels. It’s something I would consider continuing through his school years.

I have a 13, 11 ,3 year old girls and an 8 year old son. I am Montessori trained and have loved creating an eclectic curriculum. But mom is tired and ready to try an all on in one curriculum, especially for my teen that craves something challenging and different than we have used. Trouble is my standards are extremely high and I haven’t seen any AIOs as fantastic as Oak meadow! Would be a blessing for my teen.

My kids are 2, 5, 7 and 10. I would love to try Oak Meadow for my oldest. He is dyslexic and has just this year started reading more independently. So far in their schooling I have pieced together their curriculum based on what would work for him. I feel like I haven’t done the best at giving them a well rounded curriculum. I would love a chance to used a complete curriculum set.

I have three children ages 7, 5, and nearly 2. We have been fairly “unschool-y” so far, but I have considered adding a slight bit of structure. I love that Oak Meadow has some structure, but is still designed to be respectful of the inner genius in each child and seeks to draw that out of them. I also love that it is now available digitally as we have spent the last three years living overseas. I have been interested in Oak Meadow for two years, but have not been able to afford to try it out. I would LOVE to win this!

My 5 year old son, 1.5 year old daughter (it’s never too young to learn), and I are so thrilled to be able to leave our comments on Oak Meadow for a chance to win such an extraordinary curriculum! In a world where public learning has become such a daunting task – for student and teacher alike – it is so refreshing to see that there are institutions that genuinely care about HOW a young student of life learns about our world. I love Oak Meadow’s organic, creative, and nature-based unconventional approach to learning. That is how I teach my children and I would love to reinforce my methods with this curriculum. I pray that we win this one!!! Thank you so much for the opportunity!

As a former primary educator, I appreciate how the gentle approach of this well-organized (LOVE the layout) and easy to follow (very little prep, comparatively) curriculum honors the child’s developmental stages. The learning simply feels like living life. Additionally, it is well -rounded and subject areas are complementary – not a lot of scrambling to piece in the arts and (exceptionally compiled) sciences. This is a “best fit” curriculum for the child that would prefer to spend all their waking hours in nature and for the parent that appreciates the guidance and not “have to” approach. The content is well-written and while it does have some Waldorf influences, speaks to the needs of children today…VERY COMPREHENSIVE – without the dogma! My child has just turned 11 years old.
    Thank you for this opportunity!!

My daughter is nearly 8 and we are using Oak Meadow Grade 2 this year. The thing that really appeals to me about the curriculum is the space left for customized learning. If you don’t like the literature selection just pick another book and writing prompts will still apply. The coursework suggests that 3 sentence paragraphs are suitable for the grade level, but if you live with Wordsworth Jr. you should write more. You get the idea.

Our children are full of wonder and are so very curious about everything. They have imaginations that seem to go on forever. We have been using Oak Meadoe for 4 months and love how it differs from traditional school. Jackson (1st grade-6) and Beau ( Pre-k) wake each morning ready and excited to “play and learn” with Mom. We have been having so much fun learning together and discovering together. We love the opportunity that Oak Meadow has allowed for our family to grow together. Thank you!

Hands on learning is the best, it’s how we concrete things in our minds. We love to take that approach in our homeschooling. Also being nature-based is a total bonus because we are all about the outdoors and nature and taking care of the earth. Especially my 7 year old! I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old (almost 5), that will be starting Kindergarten next year.

    January 19, 2016 at 3:38 pm

Hi, my name is Ludovica and I have three beautiful male children aged 4,9 and 11 years old. We live in Italy and we both parents are transitioning in beginning educating our children at home. I have been interested in homeschooling since my first one was in kindergarden, although is now in secondary school that we are struggling so much with traditional school. My oldest, that is a natural, passionate learning about nature, science and a huge reader is becoming more and more dull…he doesn’t like school anymore and is very anxious. I know Oak Meadow since when Jamie Martin began blogging about it (so, more or less 6 years now) and love it. I like the approach: the respect for children different personalities and rhythms they have put into their learning resources. Seems so strange, I was just thinking about this today: how beautiful would be begin this new adventure in homeschooling having the reassurance of doing the “right thing” for my children with those great companions aside! I have no experience in homeschooling yet, but I do love my children with all my heart and I know God is preparing a new path for us all. Hope oak meadow could help us to go into this huge new adventure having the right tools to do it with confidence and enthusiasm.

The hands-on activities that they provide are a must as well!

My son is 9 and my daughter is 12. We do a little bit of this and that. I am trying to find our “fit” if there is such a thing. I love that Oak Meadow was created by parents and teachers who want their children to love learning. Also that it isn’t a one size fits all type of curriculum and that it allows each child to be their own person. My son is at home and my daughter is currently in a Christian school. As far as “school” goes, it is great. A much better option than others for sure. She was bored at home. We would really like to bring her home again so she can be herself and do what she is interested in. And also be the ones who are in charge of what she learns. It is hard not being involved in that and I feel like I am not doing my part. Also, she is getting caught up in the social aspect of it all & papers upon papers… I think Oak Meadow would help us to be a bit more structured but also allowing freedom. My kids both like nature, animals, arts & crafts. And Mom needs help orchestrating it all! Thank you!

It is detailed yet not overwhelming, and challenging but not so much that you do not want to grow. The curriculum shows a great deal of balance, beautiful art and science and great use of math and language. I’ve been searching for something like this for a long while. I would hope to use it. My daughter is 7 and currently in 1st grade. She loves Oak Meadow. I honestly don’t think that there is anything that she doesn’t like. It has helped foster a LOVE of learning. What I love is the mindfulness component. The curriculum is so deep, gentle and takes time. My daughter is in the present. She develops understanding from the very foundation and has an opportunity to learn things that she wouldn’t otherwise get to. Plus, we get outside all of the time; she is in a natural state the majority of the time instead of an artificial box. Thank you!!

I have 3 sons of my own – ages 20 (grown and in the army) 12 and 10, and I also have guardianship of a friends son, age 11, so I’m still raising 3 boys. I love the hands-on approach – with a houseful of young and VERY active boys, hands-on is the only way to go!!!

Thanks for the opportunity to win something so awesome! 🙂
Our kids are: 10, 8, 4, 2.5, & 5.5 months! 🙂 I’ve been homeschooling since my oldest was 4, and I’ve always just pieced together his(and his brother’s) lessons for the week. Nature has always been a big focus for our kids, and I would love a curriculum that is based on that! Perfect.
    Also, shared on fb!

My ADHD son needs lots of hands on activities and outdoor time to have a calm peaceful day. He has really struggled in the pencil and paper curriculum at the school he has been in. We have already pulled him out of it and are working on a curriculum for right now, but we are looking for an “accredidated curriculum ” to use for next year.

Hi, My kids are 9,8 and 3. My school days/years where I few up (Europe) were quite different then here in US. Many times we learned outdoors, in nature, exploring, taking care of it and learning from it. I would love for my kids to go through the same or very similar, and Oak Meadow is so close to what I want. Thank you for giving me a chance to be part of it.

My boys are 5 and 8 and we are part of a homeschool co-op that is waldorf inspired and love many things about it. I have looked into Oak Meadow many times but have never taken the plunge as we have tended to lean a little more on the unschool side. But as my oldest gets older I think we would really benefit from having a more structured curriculum to follow and I think Oak Meadow would provide the happy medium we are looking for.

I love that you include everything…that it is so well organized. but,i must say that the part I like best is just that really good feeling I had when reading through it….you cant explain a feeling like that..it just happens and you know it’s “right”.

My son is 13 and the oldest of five but the only homeschooler we have right now. We are using Calvert this year but would love to try oak meadow mostly for the project based learning. It seems as soon as we get interested in a subject we have to move on so I get the feeling we are touching all these great thoughts but never really connecting to them. There is just not enough room in my life right now to do all the extras I would love to do but it seems oak meadow builds them into the curriculum.

I want a well rounded, secular, program that will fit into our creative and active lifestyle. We are a family of doing, so sitting at a desk all day would never fly.

Hello from Manila! I have an 8yo son and a 4yo daughter. We’re homeschooling basically because my son has hearing impairment and Apraxia and I believe in respecting his pace and uniqueness, that a boxed school setting cannot easily provide. As both kinesthetic learners I want them to have options to learn at their own liking but at the same time I have a guide to help me. Oak Meadow would be perfect!

My son is almost 6 and I have twin babies on the way. We haven’t used a curriculum so far, but I think it will be very useful to keep me focused through the first few months of sleepless nights and endless feeding! I like the way that Oak Meadow includes relationships and empathy in the curriculum, as I feel that these are important and often overlooked.

Hello, I have a 4 y.o. boy and a 2 y.o. girl. We live in Dubai, UAE. What we like about Oak Meadow is their Natural and Outdoor approach and Waldorf influence. We have not have personal experience yet with the curriculum but this is the one we have chosen for our 4 y.o. Thank you for the chance!

My kids are 3 1/2, 18 months, and baby due in March! As I have never had hands on experience with Oak Meadow (yet!), I feel like Oak Meadow would be the perfect curriculum to jump start our homeschool experience as my oldest will be starting kindergarten work next fall. I am trying to find something we can easily adapt to our schedule as I will have a baby wanting to explore and a very active toddler too. I am always drooling over their curriculum packages when deciding what program to try. Oak Meadow is top of my list as my oldest and Her love for nature coincides with Oak Meadows organic approach to learning, I feel like it would be the perfect fit.

I love that oak meadow is written with a child’s level of development in mind. As an adult you might read the text and think it seems easy or light-but this was written for you. It was actually written in a way your child can read it themselves and it speaks to them. I am getting ready to start my third round of fifth grade with oak Meadow-our version is the old one and I would love to update (my kids are 6 years apart). I’ve always kept my oak Meadow books because it is my favorite curriculum:)

I have 3 children (with a mind to possibly have more), a 5 year old daughter, 3.5 year old son, and a 10 month old son. We are currently exploring nature based learning. What appeals to me about Oak Meadow is the focus on relationships. My main personal goal for homeschooling my children is fostering positive relationships in our family. I want my kids to grow up into emotionally healthy, confident, kind, and self motivated adults. I also want to preserve their childhood and encourage their interests, play, and individual learning styles. I believe Oak Meadow will allow me to not only do that, but cater and adjust to the age range I am working with. Thank you for the opportunity!

My kids are 9, 6, and 3. I’ve always liked the idea of doing school this way, and we currently follow the classical method with books that I’ve put together. What I like about Oak Meadow is that they have hands on projects laid out for you. That is the area I fall short in-I’m good with the reading and basic subjects, but it’s easy to “not have time” to do the extra hands on stuff! I will be looking into Oak Meadow even if I don’t win!

I’m currently homeschooling our 5.5 & 3 year old. We live in a forest on a mountainside so a huge appeal for me is the nature based learning & rhythm. Another appeal is that homeschooling has been harder than I expected with a 6 week old baby & some curriculum direction would be fabulous! Thank you for the opportunity.

Oh Jamie, this is such an amazing opportunity – thank you. We’d love to be lucky enough to win our next OM program which will be G4, and in the new, revised program that I’m excited about moving onto in that school year.

We are a Waldorf inspired family. We love that Oak Meadow grew out of a rich foundation of those beautiful Waldorf values and has developed such an enriching program through the years that weaves in modern day education to these mindful principles. For us, we find Oak Meadow to be a wonderfully well rounded program. The way the lessons and material are laid out in a very easy to follow way makes ‘digesting’ the information and presenting enriching lessons, very efficient. Prior to finding Oak Meadow I was being further and further consumed by monumental planning time needed to work material I was collecting into a program. Oak Meadow’s program is organised in such a user friendly manner and the material they give is so spot on for where it needs to be in meeting the child where they are developmentally and along their incarnation path. I honestly cannot speak highly enough of the program and the way our children and ourselves are being enriched from being an Oak Meadow Family.

I have an 8-year old son and I think nature based learning and hands on activities would be a great fit for him. He has ADHD and sensory issues so a regular sit and do worksheet type education doesn’t work so well for him.

My girls are 6 and 8. We love all things flexible and nature based. I’m especially interested in Oak Meadows because we will be moving soon from California to New York. Due to the more stringent homeschool laws in New York, I’m looking for ways to satisfy the states requirements.

Our children are 6 and 8, daughter and son. We are a pretty laid back family and Oak Meadow appears to fit us from all the research I’ve done. But I’ve been hesitant to make the investment. Hope we could win.

I have a 3, 13, and 17 year old. I like that the curriculum is not only student centered and nature based but provides organizational tools to help make sure you are on track.

I am homeschooling my 7 year old daughter. She loves learning about the natural world, enjoys handwork and we like to do projects for science and social studies with hands-on experiences. While we have eclectically approached K and first grade, utilizing some Waldorf philosophies, we would love to use Oak Meadow for second grade.

My children are 10, 2 1/2 and 8 months! Although we’ve been homeschooling for almost 4 years now, I’ve only recently come to realize so many of my own philosophies and goals align with Waldorf education. I am excited about Oak meadow because the lessons are already laid out. That means a lot to a mom with tiny babies afoot!

My children are 4, 2, and 8 months so I am very new to homeschooling. Once our family made the decision to choose this type of learning and I started my curriculum research, Oak Meadow is exactly what I was looking for my young learners! I love the idea of a hands on approach and a day to day plan but go at your own pace curriculum, I know every child has his/her own way of learning and pace and this looks like the best start for us!!!

I have a 10 yo, almost 2 to and am due with our third in a few weeks! I love Oak Meadow’s hands-on project approach. There’s very little screen time, it’s nature based and centered around nurturing the child. I love all of the connections my daughter makes between subjects as well! I shared this through the Facebook link for an extra entry! 🙂

Thank you for this generous giveaway, and a chance to win. 🙂 My children are 5 and 2. I love that Oak Meadow is a whole child approach that speaks to a child’s emotional, physical, and academic development. My older child is currently using Oak Meadow kindergarten, and the stories and activities apopeal to her, and fit well into our days of play and outdoor time. I really appreciate the beauty of the curriculum, and look forward to continuing on through the grades. 🙂

    Hello! What an awesome giveaway!
My children are 7, 6, and 2 and we love homeschooling!! What I love about Oak Meadow is that it is digital. I find that I’m overwhelmed with papers and books and it’s difficult to sift through the vast amount of materials to find what to teach. This seems straight forward and environmentally friendly! (bonus!) I hope to give Oak Meadow a try next year to watch my children’s minds continue to grow!

I have twin 4 year olds that I’m planning on homeschooling for kindergarten next year. Oak Meadow appeals to me because it has a more laid back approach to early elementary education – more time for play and fun, which is exactly why I want to home school in the first place.

My word for this New Year is SIMPLE. That’s how I found this site, and actually it’s what turned me on to Oak Meadow. My 7 year old Olivia is a nature-lovin’, picture paintin’ free spirit, and the last thing I want to do is mold her to a curriculum. Oak Meadow seems like it would be a beautiful learning experience for her and allow her to be herself. I couldn’t want anything more than that!

I have three girls, ages 6, almost 4, and 2. The nature aspect of this curriculum is very appealing to us. Our girls really crave and need time outdoors in nature. We also enjoy a relaxed pace that is child led. Would love a chance to try oak meadow. I’ve been considering it for the last couple of years but haven’t taken the plunge yet. Figured I would try this first – thanks for the chance!

I have 6 children, all of whom I have home schooled. My youngest two boys are still being home schooled while my elder 15 year old son is now at high school. I have perused dozens and dozens of curriculum over the years, (and bought several…plus many many books!) and experimented with many different learning styles. It can be a challenge to keep up with each developing child. But one enduring style has always been our love of the outdoors. Oak Meadow curriculum addresses the simplicity I love as well as the natural outdoorsy life, whilst learning in a fun and interesting way. It is good of you to make this very cool offer.

I love Oak Meadows “whole-child” approach and also integrating the environment and artistic expression into daily life and learning. I’m an American living in Australia and my kids are 5, 4 and 19 months – we are diving into ‘homeschool’ for the first time next week as the school runs from then until late November for us!
